The Gruffalo
(1st & 2nd Grade)
The Gruffalo Show will take children on a journey through a deep dark wood to meet the infamous Gruffalo passing a hungry fox, a peckish owl and a starving snake on the way. The story closely follows the synopsis of the book with a few embellishments for good taste! Children will enjoy the catchy songs written and performed live by the cast and will have fun joining in.
The language used in the show is simplified and repetitive. Performers encourage the audience to participate using different eliciting techniques. The show is easy to follow with language taken from Julia Donaldson’s book. However, it is not strictly necessary for children to be familiar with the story.
Lazy Lenny
(1st to 3rd Grade)
Lenny lives on a farm with his grandma. They are very poor and so grandma decides that Lenny needs to sell the cow at the market. But Lenny is very lazy and is always thinking of fun and adventures. Granny follows Lenny to market through the countryside and while Lenny gets easily distracted, Granny tries to teach him a lesson.
With lots of audience participation, catchy songs, and repetitive simple dialogues, children will really enjoy. The performers encourage the audience to participate using different eliciting techniques. The show is easy to follow with vocabulary about animals, question forms, imperatives and the use of “can/can't”.
Pupils will help Peggy on her journey by joining in the songs, dances and helping her to act. The vocabulary for this play focuses on can/can't, clothes, transport and food (especially pork products!)
