Shows for Upper Primary

The Worst Job in Town (4th to 6th grade)

Many years ago, in the Kingdom of Hamleg lived a servant called Matilda. She worked in a castle forPrince Gilbert and was very busy all day long. She cleaned, cooked, tidied, sang and tried to keep Prince Gilbert happy. Matilda thought she had the WORST JOB in town …. until she visited the town!

Set in Medieval times, this new musical show will both entertain and teach children about different (and rather disgusting!) jobs in the past. Pupils will not only participate on stage but also get to choose how the play ends.

The School Detective(3rd to 5th Grade)

Norman Shufflecrump is the School Detective and he’s brilliant at solving mysteries. Norman travels the country with a suitcase of gadgets and the mind of a genius. He can solve any problem, at any school, at any hour. But Norman is a very busy man and sometimes gets confused. He may forget the time and even appear at the wrong school! He will definitely need the help of pupils and teachers to solve the mysteries at YOUR SCHOOL. Can you help him?

There is a strong CLIL focus in this show which makes it ideal for young learners in bilingual education. It integrates the subjects of Science, PE and Music as well as focusing on classroom language and instructions. Volunteers will have the opportunity to participate on stage while the audience can watch and sing along to the tunes.

The Gold Show (5th & 6th Grade)

The Gold Show is about a scientist called Ernest who has invented a time machine. His assistant, Bianca, is very surprised when he announces that he is going to visit the past. There’s only one problem; the time machine needs gold in order to work. Ernest manages to visit the Californian gold rush, Ancient Egypt and a pirate ship whilst begging, borrowing or stealing gold along the way. Finally, he returns to the science lab to discover that his assistant has plans of her own.

With the use of an interactive PowerPoint display, students are encouraged to answer questions throughout the show recalling key vocabulary and characters. There are songs, raps and dances which children also join in with. The language is aimed at an elementary level of English with a major focus on question forms.

Mr Popular
(5th & 6th Grade)

Max doesn't have many friends at school so one day he makes a master plan - to become Mr Popular! He and his schoolmate, Maybie, devise a way of getting Max noticed. He enters competitions, he goes on TV and on the Internet and even makes a movie! However, as his popularity grows so does his ego - and this brings disastrous consequences.

This show for Upper Primary contains all the dynamic features which Playtime Theatre always deliver: live music, interactive English and lots of pupil participation. Students will not only be entertained but learn valuable life skills such as maintaining friendships, being kind and learning to give.
